Andy’s songs are a strong elixir of roots-rock, country-and-western, and roadhouse blues. Sure to raise the roof as soon as it goes into the disc playerCompañero Blanco is genuine Southern Arizona cowboy rock ‘n’ roll. The sounds and narratives on this album are conceived in the land they come from. It’s a winding drive through rolling pasturespast yucca, agave, and windmillswhile the Mustang Mountains slumber in the distance. This album was conjured by these images, as muses in Andy’s daily life. As a truly grassroots effort, Compañero Blanco brings together some of Southern Arizona’s finest musicians, and Andy’s closest friends, to create something that is as beautiful in form as it is in content. He sings duets with Roger Clyne and Kelli Weymouth, and is accompanied by Tim O’Connor, Greg Morton, Tom Tucker, Jay Trapp, Steve Larson and P.H. Naffah. The stories in Compañero Blanco are as compelling as the melodies. Andy’s brand of cowboy poetryhaving worked as a cowboy and horseshoer for many yearsis as engaging as it is authentic.
